Our beginner’s martial arts program for teens is a great fit for students with a passion for the martial arts or just hoping to improve basic athleticism. Our teens class meets 5 days a week and last about an hour per session, and is open to students around 12 to 18 years of age.
Like our other martial arts programs, we challenge our students to develop both their mind and their body. Students will be asked to display respect, courage and self-discipline. These values lay the foundation for success in training and the physical skills most often thought of in martial arts, most notably physical fitness and self-defense. Students will develop self-defense skills to be prepared for most physical confrontations. Whether it be a school bully, a confrontation at a gathering or an attack at a college campus. For teens this self-defense aspect of class is so valuable as they prepare to leave the nest.
Physically, students will improve strength, flexibility and general physical fitness. Most notably for teens, we find that being given a non-competitive physical goal is great for students ranging from students who have a hard time keeping up in “normal” team sports to students hoping to challenge themselves to be the best of the best.
